My passion in video is in amplifying POC, immigrant, and LGBTQ* voices particularly in the arts and outdoors.
Currently, I’m working on a project with artist Kelsey Robinson in the intersection of history, performance, documentary, object making, and bicycle touring. The project is called Talking With Ghosts About Freedom. Kelsey is preparing to ride the Underground Railroad bicycle route from Mobile, Alabama, to Owen Sound, Ontario, while creating new pieces of music, literature, performance and illustrated documentation in effort to sustain and foster interest in African American heritage as a response to research and the study of the enslavement of Africans in America; the process and experiences of enslavement and the enslaved and the phenomenally intricate and courageous escape of an estimated one hundred thousand Africans and African-Americans. Essential to this project is the intimate engagement in outdoor recreation in the natural world which, as it currently exists, is very exclusive to people (especially women) of color. My role is that of video artist and documentary filmmaker.
For my day job, I work with Pisano Films, a video and animation studio in Pittsburgh, PA, specializing in documentary, educational, and non-profit storytelling. Our clients include Twitter, MedExpress, Duolingo, the Sprout Fund, Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy, the University of Pittsburgh, Carnegie Mellon University, Healthy Ride, VIA New Music & Media Festival, Fossil Free Fuel, and more.
